1. Who we are

TradieMate is an SMS automation service for Australian tradie businesses, operated by Allan Poynton ("we", "us", "our"). We provide missed-call text-back automation and Google review generation for local trades businesses.

2. What data we collect

  • Business information: your business name, trade, owner name, phone number, suburb, and Google Business Profile review link.
  • Customer phone numbers: the phone numbers of customers who call your business, collected automatically when a call is missed or an SMS is sent.
  • SMS message content: the text of text-back messages and customer replies, stored so you can view conversations in your dashboard.
  • Account information: your login email and hashed password.
  • Payment information: processed by Stripe — we do not store your card details, only your subscription status.

3. How we use your data

  • To send automated SMS text-back messages to your missed callers.
  • To send automated Google review requests to your customers after a job.
  • To display your dashboard — missed calls, conversations, reviews, and ROI stats.
  • To process your monthly subscription payment via Stripe.
  • To send you service notifications (e.g. a new missed call, a new review).

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the services required to operate TradieMate:

  • Twilio — to send and receive SMS messages on your behalf.
  • Stripe — to process your subscription payments.
  • Neon (PostgreSQL) — to store your data securely in a cloud database.
  • Vercel — to host the application.

We will only disclose your data to law enforcement if legally required to do so.

5. SMS communications

When a customer calls your business and you miss the call, TradieMate automatically sends them an SMS from your business number. Customers can opt out of receiving further SMS by replying "STOP". We honour all opt-out requests immediately.

6. Data retention

We retain your customer phone numbers and SMS conversations for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel your subscription, we will delete all your business data within 30 days of cancellation, unless you request earlier deletion.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements).
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Cancel your subscription at any time.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data: passwords are hashed with bcrypt, all database connections are encrypted (SSL), session cookies are HttpOnly and signed, and all API routes require authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or via your dashboard. Continued use of TradieMate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Australian Privacy Principles

This policy is aligned with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988. If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, contact us first. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
